For being a fine player who has achieved royalty on the course and brightened up many a round with the warmth of his personality.
For being an inspirational team advocate who has motivated generations of player to a string of inter-county successes.
Above all, for being a pivotal figure in Pitch & Putt for the past three decades and beyond.
Hall of Fame Award 2016 is Awarded to Jim Byrne Old County
For the unwavering diligence, loyalty and accuracy he has displayed during an unbroken stretch of 41 years as secretary of his club since 1976.
For espousing the true ethos of pitch and putt by contributing richly across five decades to the club he helped found in 1966 and which he captained in 1990
For the great precision and devotion he brought to all his roles on club committee and as club photographer in the early days.
For his 1987 A.G.M. motion “put it in writing!” which ultimately spawned a book title and for maintaining meticulous records which were central to the landmark court case win which secured the future of the club.
