Weather permitting, there will be an après Christmas scramble on Sunday 28th December at 10:00: adults - €3, juveniles – free. All winter greens will be in use. Feel free to wear your Christmas jumpers! Normal competitions will resume on the weekend of Friday 2nd January. A sheet for the 2026 Winter Leagues is up in the clubhouse. It’s €5 to enter and all the details are on the board. The league will start on the weekend of Friday 9th January. I’d like to thank everybody for their wonderful support of our club competitions in 2025. Let’s hope that 2026, Old County’s 60th anniversary, is even better. Finally, I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Please note due to the ongoing inclement weather, there are parts of Old County now waterlogged. Therefore, to help the course dry out, it will be closed until Wednesday 19th November.
Here are the final results of the first Hamper competition. Congratulations to all the winners and a big “Thank You” to everybody who took part. Please see full results under competitons tab.
Winners: Gents Seniors: Gerry Clarges Gents Inters: Ian Patel Gents Juniors: Fintan Byrne Ladies A: Pauline Balfe Ladies B: Frances Keane All winners are cut 2 shots for the second Hamper competition which starts this Friday. The entry sheet is on the wall in the clubhouse. Entry - €5. Thank you! After the weather kept the course closed last Friday and Saturday, turkey hunting season will now officially start this coming Friday. The Hamper competition will also begin, so make sure you put your name on the list that's on the competition notice board. You must put your name down BEFORE you play your first competition card. Entry is €5. Importantly, "Lift, Clean and Place" will be in force from now until Christmas. The bunkers are also out of play. Lift, clean and place allows you to mark your ball, clean it, and place it within 6 inches of your marker but no nearer the hole. In the case of bunkers, you can drop up to two club lengths behind the bunker, but the bunker must still be between you and the hole - no dropping out sideways!!!! After you drop, you may lift, clean and place, following the instructions above. Full details of both the turkey and hamper competitions are also on the notice board. Best of luck to everybody!
